Trauma lingers in flashbacks

Faces etched into my scars

Malice burns from unforgiving eyes

 

I remember my family

People long departed from my life

Faces frozen in antiquated memory

Broken pieces adrift in the sand

 

I remember the sins

Errors that I can’t undo

Faces removed in consequence

Immortality forsaken in repentance

 

I remember love

Moments of joy in captivity

Faces engraved on my heart

Bonds formed by circumstance
